Hello from Southeast Asia!
So it occurred to me that I hadn’t yet updated you all on my whereabouts. I’m in..*drumroll*..CAMBODIA!
It. Is. AWESOME! I’ve been here for 10 days and my heart is already won.
We’re staying in Phnom Penh, which is the capitol of Cambodia, and we are working at the International Theological College and Seminary. That title sounds intimidating right? I actually laughed out loud when I found out where we were going. But so far, it’s actually been pretty great.
We’re not teaching Theology, which is good because I’d be over my head with that one. But we are teaching several levels of English vocab and grammar as well as health, music, art, geography and many other class that I can’t even remember right now. Praise the Lord we have 7 people on this team to split the work-load! (I have such new respect for teachers.) I personally am “helping” to teach an English grammar 1 class. AKA, I’ve definitely misspelled the words ‘grammar’, ‘definitely’, and ‘remember’ wrong just while writing this blog. So actually I’m sitting there learning with the rest of class. I’m also co-teaching a music theory class as well as an art class which are both a little more up my stream.
The students are so great and encouraging. I love hearing “thank yew teechah!” at the end of every class! I feel like I have no clue what I’m doing up there at the front of a classroom, but the students love that I’m giving them whatever I can.
Asia itself is amazing. I can’t get enough tuk tuk rides, elephant pants or bubble tea. I’m so excited to be here and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for me and the rest of my (new) team! (PS go check out my new teammates! They’re a bunch of hotties!)
Fundraising update:
I currently stand at 71.5% funded with $11,644! WHAT?! I can’t even fathom the generosity and kindness that has been shown to me over the past year (can you believe I’ve been fundraising for this thing for a year?). I am so close to being fully funded I can almost taste it! That being said, I need to be fully funded by January 1st. That means I have just under 2 months to raise the remaining $4633. Compared to the almost $12,000 you all have already helped me raise however, this is a piece of cake! (I learned that’s called an idiom this week) I ask that you please consider donating $11 (for the 11 countries and 11 months I’m seeing on the race!) in order to help me reach my goal. My last blog has already had 109 views. If all 109 of those people gave $11 each, I would already have another $1,199! And what’s $11? A burrito with chips and guac and a drink at Chipotle. I’ve gone 5 months now without it. You can go one day!
Thank you all for your continued love, encouragement, prayers and support! You will never know just how much it all means to me.
Much much much love,
Anna <3
