1 year ago today, I journaled snippets from Ruth Myers’ book 31 Days of Praise:

“THANK YOU that You have me in the place You want me just now.

THANK YOU that I can safely commit my location and situation to You.

THANK YOU that I can trust You with my future places – ready to go, ready to stay. So I REST in the fact that You have me in this place for this day, and I praise You that You will faithfully guide me throughout my life to just where You want me to be, as I seek to do Your will.

How delighted I am to have You as my dwelling place where I can settle down, feel secure and be content ANYWHERE ON EARTH. You are my blessed home.”

And no, my heart was not overflowing with the joy and rest these words describe. I was quite confused about where I was supposed to be going, actually, and taking refuge in the simple, unchanging Truths of the Lord’s character.

Today, as I turn another year older, I proclaim that God brought all of these Truths to pass in my life over the past year. I believe them with my entire being because I can see His sovereignty over my situation. I now prepare to pray them continually as I abide in the Lord in 11 new countries, sharing His love! I know that He will continue to guide me to where He wants me to be.

How confident I can be going into the unknown because I have a consistent, strong, and faithful dwelling place! My location may change, but my foundation and my source of comfort and security will not.

SO. Praise the Lord for who He IS, not just for what You can SEE or FEEL from Him. He is bigger than that and is working things out in His timing [see previous related blog here]. And it is BEAUTIFUL!

“He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” [Psalm 62:6]
