Before AIM (Adventures in Missions) sends teams out on missions trips, they must go through some type of Training Camp. For World Racers, this is an intense 10-days (16 hours a day) of physical, emotional and spiritual training. It was an exhausting week in every sense of the word and challenged me beyond my limits, but prepared me to go into the nations next year. For me, it started out with a 13-hour car ride with four people I had never met before…and we took my minvan. Yes, we made it there and back! Even though it was long, that car ride was awesome because I went into camp knowing a few people, instead of meeting all 53 people at once.
The first few days were spent focusing on our emotional needs. We can’t go out into the world and share about Christ unless we know who we are in Him, and he fills us up. Our heart can only handle so much, and if we have a lot of emotional junk from our past filling up our heart, we cannot allow God to move in. Knowing this and being able to let go of stuff from my past was a turning point for me. For the first time in a long time I realized what true freedom in Christ is…that He wants me to be free to love and be loved!
We also went through many seminars including discovering our spiritual instinct and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, changing our view of reality to God’s reality, intimacy and honesty with God and the grieving process. The Holy Spirit is more powerful thanh I thought!
The second half of camp was spent doing team building exercises so we could be put into our small teams. I am with 6 wonderful people and I will introduce them in my next blog!
Overall, Training Camp was an amazing experience. Call or e-mail me if you want to know more!
P.S.- I did take my video camera to make a video. However, my cam broke on the last day and I can’t get the tape out to edit the vid! Hopefully you’ll see it in a month!
