Team Seven Camels.

What a strange name, right?  I didn’t want a “christianese” name. I wanted a name that made people go, “what does that mean?” I think we found one. lol. So what does the name mean?

Camel: A camel begins each day on it’s knees and ends each day on it’s knees.
There is absolutely no way that we can do this adventure on our own, using our own strength. It’s all God and whatever He wants to do through us.

Praying
Tradition states that James, Jesus’ half brother, spent so much
time in fervent prayer on his knees, that they became like that of a
camel, earning him the nickname “camel-knees.”  It is this same apostle who writes
in the Book of James that if anyone is in trouble he should pray, that
if anyone is sick, a prayer of faith can make him well again, and that
if anyone has sinned he can receive forgiveness through the prayers of
others.
Seven is for the seven of us:

Robin Barnes-
The minute I met Robin, I immediately liked her. She has this sweet
spirit and laugh that just draws you in. I admire her passion for the
hurting people of this world. Plus, she’s just FUN to be around.

Audrey Powell- Soft-spoken, with a
ferocious heart. I remember the first time I heard her pray- the
sincerity of it brought tears to my eyes.   I remember thinking, “How can God possibly say no to anything she asks for?”
Audrey and Rebecca

Rebecca Campos– I actually met Rebecca
before camp. She’s a fellow austinite, so she just must be awesome,
right? She’s a tough woman and a fighter for the kingdom, with an
intense desire for all that God has for her.I admire her relentess pursuit for God.

Jodi Greenlee-  mama Jodi, or mama bear.
I’m not sure if she likes that name or not, but we gave it to her! She
has this way about her that makes me feel safe and comfortable, like I
could tell her anything and she wouldn’t judge. She’s also pretty funny.

Adam Coleman- our team leader. Adam leads
with a servant’s heart. He’s serious when He needs to be, but, to my
great delight, sarcastic and funny when he needs to be. I think the
whole team leader thing took him by surprise, but God definitely knew
what He was doing. One of the things Adam said at camp was,  “We’re all
going to lead in some way while we’re on this race.” I admired him so
much when he said that. I think it would be easy to take leadership and
run with it, but Adam does a great job including all of us.

Matt and Adam
Matt Patch- freakin hilarious. He can be
a total goofball, but has such a sincere heart for what God is doing.
I’m really excited to see who Matt will be after this year. Matt and
Adam have this beautiful bromance thing going on. They complete each
other. It’s a gorgeous thing, really. 🙂

This is my team, my new family.

Adam, Matt, Robin, me, Audrey, Rebecca, and Jodi
Together, we want to seek the Lord. We want to be filled with His spirit, and led by His voice.

Phil 2: 1If you have
any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from
his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and
compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
