Hmm… where to start..

Birth:  I was born and raised in the great city of Austin, Texas. I love it here, and am so grateful for all the blessings I have in my life! If you have never been to Austin, be wary of visiting; you might never want to leave!

God: Well, He’s everything. I just really love Him, because… do I even need a because? Oh how He loves me! He looks at me and doesn’t see all the ways that I don’t measure up. He’s so gentle and patient and… funny. Have you ever tried telling a joke to God? It’s interesting, because you know He knows the punch line, but He laughs all the same. He’s not this Being in the sky, scrutinizing our every move, and writing all the ways we fail. He is the one who “desires to give us all good things,” (Romans 8:23), who pursues us so recklessly and spares nothing– not even death- to restore us to Him. He is the joy that lives inside of me. Oh, people, He’s just wonderful!

Why I’m going: When I was younger, I used to say “When I grow up, I’m going to preach the gospel to every continent, including Antartica!” Yeah, I was a funny kid, but God put missions on my heart at a young age. Why go? If you had a never-ending supply of the cure to a horrible disease that was killing off the world, wouldn’t you share it? Sin and death are killing this world. Jesus is the cure. He gave everything so that I would know Him. How can I not do the same?

James and I                                                                                                     James and I———>
Family: Now pay attention, this has been known to confuse some. I have a loving father who raised me on Jesus, the Three Stooges and Godzilla. I have an older brother, James, who is wonderful. My mother passed away when I was a young child, and my father remarried, but they divorced seven years later. So,  I also have three ex-stepbrothers and an ex-stepsister. Legally, they are no longer my family, but well, we don’t live by the law, right? (Cheesy christian joke number one).

Life in the Hamptons: I live in this wonderful placed, lovingly refered to as ‘the Hampton house,’ with almost thirty other people. Yes, it’s a big house. Yes, that’s alot of people. Yes, it can be crazy and wonderful. I cannot express in the space that I have how much living in a christian community has blessed my life.These wonderful people that I know as my housemates have encouraged and
challenged me in so many aspects of my life. To have people to laugh
with, cry with, pray with, (and dance party with!) has been such an amazing experience. And, yes, “Sometimes your roommate throws the hambone away,” but it’s “whatever dude, I dominate.“(Threw that in there for all you, Hamptonites!) I will miss them!

No one does Christmas like Hampton!

Bananarchy: No I’m not against anarchy… okay maybe I am but that’s not the point. ‘Bananarchy’ is the name of the business that my business partner, Laura, and I are opening very soon. It’s a frozen banana stand, because “there’s always money in the frozen banana stand” (bonus points if you can tell me where that quote is from). It’s not just any frozen banana stand; this banana stand is God’s frozen banana stand. Some of y’all are probably thinking, “What?” So, let me explain. Austin is filled with local businesses. We “Austinites” even have a slogan: “Keep Austin Weird: Buy Local.” Only 10% of the people living in Austin are christian, and the “coexist” movement (all religions lead to God) is thriving. What better way to reach Austin than to infiltrate the business world? God is bringing revival to Austin, Texas, of this I am certain, and I’m just excited that He’s inviting us along for the ride.

Laura and I———————->

This endeavour has definitely been more work than I originally thought it would be, but it’s been a wonderful ride and, hopefully, it’ll be worth it. Leaving this business, and Laura (who is just amazing!) in it’s first year to go on the world race was such a struggle for me. But, God is good, His will is perfect and I trust Him.

Work: When I’m not in class, or freezing bananas,  I work with three and four-year-olds at a wonderful little Episcopal school. It can be quite tiring at times, but working with the wonderful people there and with the sweet kids makes it all worth it.
Kids really do say the darndest things!—> During our tour of the chapel, Miles, with wide eyes, whispers, “THIS

is God’s house? We better get out of here before He gets back!”

What else…
I LOVE to laugh. Sometimes I snort...
– Sometimes… okay… a lot of the time, I speak in exclamation points.
-I’m passionate about North Korea, and would love for you to ask me about it.

– My birthday is on Christmas, which is awesome, because I LOVE Christmas!
-I’m really into the olympics. I’ve even invented a game (with help from my favorite seven year old, Bennett) for it called “flutentahg.”
It’s a very complex sport involving a balloon and gravity. We’re be holding tryouts soon.

People keep telling me I’m a verbal processor.

– I own all four seasons of The Office and all the seasons of Arrested Development.
Girls Nights are THE BEST!—————————————>

– I’m usually singing or humming something.
-I’m “tone deaf” and can’t sing ‘on-key’ to save my life. I’m not even sure I understand what ‘on-key’ means.
-Currently, my favorite frozen banana is a halfsie dipped in our peanut butter topping with crushed oreos.

Favorite verse:  Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
 he will rejoice over you with singing.”

And Isaiah 49:15-16, “15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast  and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
       Though she may forget,
I will not forget you! 16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.
