Hello everyone! I told you in the last blog that we met our team for the next 11 months. I want to introduce you to this amazing group of Godly men and women!! Im so excited about spending every moment of the next 11 months with them! lol First let me tell you our team name and how we came up with it. After lunch one day at training camp the teams were revealed (we knew right away our team was the best! lol) we were told we could leave the campus and do whatever we wanted for a few hours, just take this time to bond. So the first place we decided to go in civilization was Starbucks. After brain storming for a name for about 5 mins somebody came up with the idea that each person would close their eyes and flip open the Bible and point to anywhere on the page and see what we came up with. Well Matt went first. He pointed to Sodom. We decided to keep moving on. After 3 or so rounds of this it was clear we weren’t getting anywhere so we stopped and started discussing. Matt said when he pointed to Sodom that first time he happened to look at some scripture above it and lovesick caught his eye. We were all immediately like yes thats it! Thats the way we all feel. We are so in love with our Lord, our Daddy! He is an awesome Father and we want to be in His presence. So Lovesick it is. We wanted to add some scripture to the team name. 2 Corinthians 5:13-15 was one of Rebekah’s favorite verses. When she read it we all agreed this is it! This is us!
2 Corinthians 5:13-15
If I acted crazy, I did it for God; if I acted overly serious, I did it for you. Christ’s love has moved me to such extremes. His love has the first and last word in everything we do.
14 –15Our firm decision is to work from this focused center: One man died for everyone. That puts everyone in the same boat. He included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own.
So of course we couldn’t put all the verses in our name so we decided that Lovesick514 would be our name!! So when you think of Lovesick514 remember this verse and pray this stays who we are and we never lose focus! So now that you got the scoop on the most awesome team name let me introduce you to the best team the world race has ever seen!! From left to right me, Rebekah King, Garrett McNeill (our fearless team leader), Matt Delaney, Rachael Ratz, Jessica Sims.
I love these people and I thank God for them daily! He has blessed me with an amazing group. These young ladies and young men have a pure heart for God and He is going to use them in awesome ways next year and Im blessed to get to see what He will do in them and through them!! We bonded and fell in love with each other quickly. Each one of us brings something unique to the team. I love my new brothers and sisters and ask that for now own when you pray for me, to please pray for Lovesick514, my family for the next 11 months.
