Well… you may have noticed how I never posted a blog about Costa Rica- hope you weren’t holding your breath for one! Well here it is… pssht….. It is only 4 months late!

Costa was a fabulous month.

First off, we had a fun little adventure making it to the ranch where we worked for the month, well the two weeks we had there. Because of major flooding, we had to wait a few days till we could travel there. In that time we got to explore San Jose. Finally we were on a bus headed to the ranch- thank God we met some angels who drove us in their van through the dark and the rain to the ranch when we had no idea where we were going!

Our main job- we were staff for a youth group from Florida. While they were helping with construction and general cleanup around the ranch, we supervised the work activities and made friends with them.

After they left, everything was way too quiet at the ranch, but we filled our last few days there with some hard core 10 hour days of construction. We had a lot of fun helping build a house for Rob and his family which will be the first home to house children for the children’s ranch!

Fun fact- I celebrated the fourth of July for the first time with my American friends! We made a good old American meal with bbq’ed burgers, fries and apple crisp for dessert!

Oh yes… then there is the cutest dog in the world- Sadie.

Then we had final debrief- it was relaxing, fun and beautiful. Saying good bye to this fabulous group of people that I got to live life with for 11 months was hard, but I enjoyed living up these 5 days enjoying time spent with them. Not to mention that our Hotel was right on the beach and I could sit up in my bed in the morning and look at the ocean! And oh yes I did it- I was determined to learn how to surf even though I am terrified of water and conquered that fear.

Well after 11 months, it was time to begin the journey back to good old southern Ontario. Our group flew back to Texas, where I spent a few days with a few Race friends doing classic Texas things like riding horses, shooting guns, and riding ATV’s. Then I continued working my way north, flying to Indiana with my friend Kathy. I got to spend a few days with her and her family (who of course spoiled us), then I got to introduce her to my good friends in IN who I also had a fabulous time with. Then my sister and I drove the 6 hours home so I could finally be with my family.

In the two months I was home a lot happened: I went to my beautiful, little Grandma’s funeral, celebrated my friend’s wedding in BC, celebrated my brother’s wedding in Ontario, hung out with my amazing friends, went on a canoe trip for 3 days, started dating a dashing, handsome gentleman, worked at the same restaurant I worked at a year ago, and returned to Honduras to see what God’s plan here is for me.

It is hard to believe the World Race is over but it really is only the beginning of me discovering more about who I am and finding the purpose he has given me.

This is where I want to thank you all, my friends, for the support you have given me. I am serious when I say I couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for supporting me financially and in praying and caring about me! YOU are important.

Many blessings!
