As the World Race grows, so does the need for ministry contacts. To fill the need, Adventures in Missions (AIM) has come up with the Unsung Hero program. The Unsung Hero team searches for new ministry contacts in a given country instead of serving alongside one ministry for the month. April has found team Adelphoi traveling from coast to coast in Costa Rica, Unsunging it up.
What does a month of searching out new ministry contacts look like? Adventure.
We began our journey in San Jose, holed up in a hostel or café with wifi, scouring the internet for ministries and asking friends if they know of missionaries in Costa Rica. We then compared our leads to AIM’s database to make sure they were indeed new ministry contacts. The next step was initial contact via email or phone. Once we heard from ministries and learned more about what they do, we asked to set up visits. The puzzle began: each ministry had to fit into the calendar without interfering with the timing of another ministry; preferably aligning in a circuit of travel rather than a zigzag.
Once our calendar was set (and I mean ‘set’ with the loosest meaning possible, for things always flex), we moved from the research phase to the going phase.
Coming soon are stories of how my feet got from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean Coast on a quest to meet up with eight ministries and churches.
