Ask any of my family and they will tell you that English is NOT my strong suit, especially when it comes to spelling! So when I found out we were teaching English this month, I got a little nervi.
Ill tell you though, I have LOVED teaching English to the older generation of p@stors & farmers. It has been a highlight of this month. 🙂 They are so much fun!
I never realized how hard the English language is to learn. (I thought it was hard to learn as a first language, I cant even imagine it being my second language) Pronunciation is completely different for us than it is for the Vietnamese language. They have a lot more vowel sounds & uhhhhhhhh sounds than we do. They are not used to “p” words & the “th” sound. Here is an example of some great students trying to pronounce “p” words:
These men & women have such a thirst & child like giddiness when it comes to learning. They are determined & unashamed of messing up. They understand that they are going to mess up, but it doesn’t matter because failure is the only way to learn. I am amazed by their courage to embrace something so unfamiliar.
