This woman does something I aspire to do on a daily basis:
choose courage over fear.

After the Vietnamese war, she was persecuted for her beliefs. She was arrested & taken for questioning. They held a gun & knife to her head to get her to deny her beliefs. As a punishment she was forced to work in the fields for 30 days without food. The government didn’t care about this woman as an individual. All they cared about was their reputation & their own success in life. They wanted her to die of “natural” causes, so it looked better when they filed documentation.

Obviously their attempts were futile. This woman is a fighter. She survived when the odds were against her, but she chose faith in the One who made her rather than fear in the ones who sought to destroy her.

Today, she lives a lone. Due to her age, her mobility is limited. This doesn’t stop her from continuing to fight the good fight of faith. The fighting looks different, but is still just as valuable, if not even more so! Her weapon: conversations with her Father.

We went there to encourage this woman & left encouraged ourselves. Our hearts were overjoyed to get to meet her & hear her story.
