one of the programs The Hope Project has that we get to work with is House of Raw, which is a dance studio housed in the basement of the building. José, the head of the program, has a BIG heart for young men and women involved in gangs and drug violence and teaching them how to use dance as a creative outlet. House of Raw is also a way to bring “light into the darkness” of the dance world, and the dancers who have been around for a while compete in national competitions, where their testimonies have a big impact on the other dancers they meet.

in our first week of ministry, our ministry group was asked to take one of the newer dance classes, Dancehall New School. this gave Felix, the teacher, a chance to practice with a full class of students, showed our group how House of Raw worked, and Angelina and I could take pictures and videos of him teaching for The Hope Project to use as promotional content on their website and social media. Micah and Melissa talked a lot about wanting us to step into our individual giftings in our training courses, but this was only our second day and i was already getting to use a camera for ministry ! i was so excited for the opportunity to capture the class and Felix teaching to bless the ministry, and the pictures turned out really well !

so here’s a little glimpse into dance ministry !
