I just can’t believe that this time last week I was still reliving my sister graduating from college. I can’t believe that the week before that was my graduation week where I graduated from university with honors, received an award, sat behind home plate in Yankee Stadium and was mere yards away from Justin Trudeau. But, I really can’t believe that in less than one week I will be in Georgia for the Storytelling Workshop and Training Camp! To say the least, time is passing way faster than I remembered it to be able to ever before.

So, here’s my understanding of what Training Camp is (I’ll make a ~response~ to this blog to give more accurate details to what Training Camp actually was FOR ME, but I’m definitely not going to give away any spoilers for future Racers). Training Camp is about a week and a half long and occurs about two months prior to Launch. It will be an example of what community might look like on the Race; however, it is really just a training space for what MAY happen. Training Camp will present some of the social dynamics that Racers might experience based on the region of the world that they travel to (i.e., Africa, Europe, Asia), including themed meals, attire, and gender-based interactions. It will also be a time to start to form bonds with strangers who will very quickly become a Racer’s family. Training Camp is a very unique experience with the sole aim to prepare Racers for the World Race.

Basically, in the next six days, my perspective on life as I have known it will change. I won’t only be a recent university graduate, a Midwestern born & raised, but I will be a missionary preparing to be sent out into the world to serve God’s people, to love them, and (possibly) most importantly to learn from them. This time next week, I will have received some training on how to tell stories, not just mine but others (those YouTube vlogs will hopefully become so much better). But, three weeks from now, my family will no longer be my biological relatives, my friends from high school & university, but also 37 strangers who I will be doing life with for the next year!

Simply, Training Camp is coming and I’m marking it as the end of one chapter and the beginning of a really big one!

Thanks for reading,
Angie Moore
