There is something about spending nearly two weeks without the first world comforts that one has grown accustomed to that makes so much space for God to speak and to love.
There is something about being surrounded by hundreds of people who are seeking to do the will of God at home and around the world for His Creation and for His glory.
There is something about being stretched, challenged, and loved in ways that I did not know possible and that I did not always want that allowed me to be my vulnerable, candid self around the 30-some strangers that are now my family.
This is exactly what Training Camp is, an opportunity to be pushed, challenged, and loved by others to be brought higher and to do the will of God. It may, in name only, be a period of time to prepare for everything that the World Race may or may not offer, from sleeping in airports to eating Indian food with my hair covered & only my right hand. Training Camp is more than preparatory, it is anticipatory. Racers sit in various sessions to learn and practice tools that we may need while out on the field, from sharing the Gospel to learning about our insurance policy. Racers also participate in various activities in preparation of building teams (smaller units within each squad that go to various ministry sites within each country on their route) as well as activities to bond the entire squad together.
No matter what, words cannot suffice what I have experienced nor what others have. So, please, watch this video about my experience at Training Camp these past two weeks.
Prayer Requests:
- Meet the next funding goal ($10,000 by July 20),
- Make enough money over the next six weeks to spend throughout the entire Race, and
- My squadmates and I do not get distracted from the tasks set before us (be intentionally present at home now so we can be intentionally present during our time away) during this waiting period.
Praise Reports:
- My team is amazing,
- I was raised as a Storyteller Team Leader, so I will be able to tell my story and help others tell theirs, and
- In the two weeks that I was gone, about $500 was donated!
