Every day here in the Dominican Republic, we have three set times to intentionally intercede and/or pray. This evening we had a worship session that was preceded by themed, personal prayer. There were four areas of personal prayer: health, family, team, and repentance. As I was praying for my family, I felt inclined to write this blog.
To my mother:
Mama, I am truly so blessed to have been given the opportunity to pursue more possessions and explore so many disciplines than any renaissance man could perfect. Thank you for your loving support as I chase after dreams, goals, and relationships that don’t make sense on paper. Thank you for entrusting me to the Lord. Finally, thank you for dictating my life as a messenger of God.
To my father:
Padre, thank you for being the rock and steady foundation I never deserved. You have consistently supported and challenged me to be my best. You chase after God and pursue His Word so regularly, it is inspiring. Finally, thank you for continually lifting me up in prayer and interceding on my behalf.
To my sisters:
As lame as this may seem, y’all are my role models, even though you’re younger than I. Li, you’ve chased your dreams DESPITE what made the most sense and what others advised (including me). You are an amazing artist, talented designer, and the best actor the world doesn’t know about yet. Munch, we all know you are smart. But, you don’t allow your intellect to belittle others nor do you put yourself on a pedestal because of it.
Please know, even though I’ve don’t a lot and the world says you should compare yourselves to me, I have no doubt y’all will outdo me in your _own_ way. You’re smarter than you know and your life is ahead of you. May the only comparison you make to me is that my ceiling is your floor and you achieve more & greater. If not your floor, the basement of your skyscraper. And, don’t forget: you aren’t me, you aren’t my baby sisters; you are unique, loved, and purposeful daughters of the Most High, the Great I Am, the Creator of the universe, the Father, the Lord of lords, the King of kings, and the one & only true God.
To everyone:
Yes, I’m the one that left, but you helped me get here. May this journey, experience, life change be a starting point, a stepping stone, an overture for the ways that you pursue King and Kingdom with reckless abandon. You don’t have to have everything to follow Him, but you do have to let go. Be the light He created you to be right where you are, unless He called you elsewhere. Join or lead a Bible study. Give generously of your time, money, talents, and other resources. Obedience isn’t a phase or stage of life, it’s a lifestyle, a heart posture, an intention. You don’t have to be twenty-something to give up everything to God; you just need to surrender control & say “yes.”
Choose joy,
Angie
TL; DR: The biggest things I’ve learned so far in these 21 days is to be present, candid, and willing. But, the thing that blows my mind, is that this experience isn’t for me, but King, Kingdom, and YOU!
Prayer Requests:
- God sends healing rain to Lajas (I’ve been asking God to send rain as a promise of the future healing for the Dominguez family; three consecutive days for healing over current afflictions and eight consecutive days for permanent, lifelong healing. Today was day four),
- Continued funding for the World Race, and
- Ability to transfer money from an account I don’t have access to abroad.
Praise Reports:
- I have met the next funding goal over a month in advance,
- I’m being grown & challenged in many ways, and
- God is revealing more and more of His truths about my identity & purpose.
