Hey,

So sorry for being away without leave last week (e.g. not posting). Life got a bit crazy. Some of you may be wondering why I am apologizing for not posting last week; the reason I am apologizing is because while I am abroad I am expected to post at least once every week to keep all of you updated and help me stay accountable for everything that I have committed to before, during, and after my departure. My blog is essentially a forum for me to share my life with you, even if and especially when I can no longer be with you physically to update you.

One of the things that I have committed to before my departure is discipling a first-year student who joined the Christian fellowship group I am in, here at NYU, the Navigators at NYU. We met during NYU’s Welcome Week, a week that gives new and returning students to acclimate to Manhattan before classes start, at one of the Navigator’s events, the Village Church Walk. I distinctly remembering reflecting with God one day that I would love the experience to meet someone and develop a bond with quickly, because that is exactly how I became involved in the Navigators at NYU (my first-year Bible study leader and I went on the Village Church Walk one-on-one because I was the only one to show up on the second time they hosted it that week). After exchanging contact info, we have been in constant communication since the beginning of September and it has truly been a blessing to get to know her. The reason I am discipling her is that she expressed interest in being discipled (!!!!). So, every week we meet for about an hour and a half and talk about life, go over a part of How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, and pray together.

This past week, we talked about the chapter on the Psalms. I found this to be very fitting because one of the ways that I surrender to God is through writing poems, very similar to psalms of lamentation and thanksgiving. It is also fitting that we read that chapter this week because I will be sharing my testimony at the Navigators’ large group meeting on Wednesday night, NavNite, in the form of a poem/psalm. I am both nervous and excited about the opportunity because I will be talking about some very personal things in a very public setting. It is a chance for me to be trustingly obedient, vulnerable, and challenged by the opportunity to share what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do in my life. With all that said, I will be sharing a poem/psalm that God has led me to write on Wednesday evening. After I share, I will be posting it on my blog (another very public setting).

Until then,

Angie Moore
