HELLO!!
So, I realized that the last update I sent out was in May…and I can’t believe it, but it’s already the END OF JULY!!! WHAT?!?! WHAT?!?! Insane. This summer has flown by sooo fast. Italy was an amazing time to spend with my beautiful family and our church friends. India was absolutely incredible…Marshall and I had such a wonderful time serving with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. The whole trip was a completely life changing experience (I will blog about India very soon)!!
On Saturday, I leave for Training Camp in White, GA. This is where I meet all 70 October World Racers…I still can’t believe there are 70 of us!! CRAZY. Training Camp is also where we form our small group (which will consist of me and 5-6 other people) and these small groups or “teams” will be living in community with one another and essentially be each other’s family for the year. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME AND MY TEAM. I am extremely nervous about meeting racers/forming my team for the coming year and I’ve been praying hard that the LORD will form the perfect team that will continually seek Him and do His will. I pray that we will all compliment each other and that we will all support and encourage one another throughout the year. I know God has already taken care of this…He knows who will be on my team (but He isn’t talking yet) but your prayers are SO IMPORTANT, so please remember me from July 24th-August 1st when I will be at camp. I’ve heard Training Camp is intense and the Holy Spirit does TREMENDOUS work in everyone’s hearts and minds during this time so…here’s to being changed for Jesus!
Financially speaking: I have raised $9,000!!! AHH!! PRAISE JESUS!!! I have enough funds to get me through the first three financial support deadlines. The next deadline I will need to meet is having $11,500 by January 1st, 2011 and then having all $14,300 by April 1st, 2011. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN SO GENEROUS WITH YOUR MONEY AND I COULD NOT BE MORE GRATEFUL. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!! This experience has forced me to rely completely on the Lord and to trust that He will provide all my needs. It has also shown me how many amazing brothers and sisters in Christ I have and that has really encouraged me….from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU ALL!!
I have a wonderful fundraiser that I’m doing which will help me bring in at least $1,000 (Lord willing!!) My wonderful friend, Kati Stanford, has so gracious been helping me make t-shirts for all of you to buy and wear!!! HOLLA…they are sooooo fantastic!!! They are $20 each and they are in sizes: small, medium, large and x-large. The t-shirts also come in a variety of colors for you to choose from: bright yellow, bright green, plum purple, light blue, and white. The front of the T-shirts will say: “Angie Blattner’s World Race Adventure” and the back will have a phenomenal quote by Mother Teresa: “Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.” I feel like this trip sums up my “mantra” and my mission statement for this 11-month journey I’m about to embark upon. I am going to love and serve each and every person I meet because Jesus Christ is in every single one of them. If you feel like you could spend $20 to buy a totally super-duper t-shirt to support my mission trip, I will be selling the t-shirts at my church, First Pres. Greeley on 9th Avenue starting in August and I will continue selling them for the two months I’m home until right before I leave for the year. If you do not live in Greeley or the Greeley area and you still want a t-shirt, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR MAILING ADDRESS. I will send you the t-shirts and you can mail me a check for them….it would be cool to have these worn all over the country (just sayin…) so think about it, pray about it…whatever, just let me know. 🙂
