After feeding ministry in the morning (or recently jail ministry in the morning) I start the very short two minute walk up the hill from the YunJin Ministry Center, our home away from home this past month, to New Faith Children’s Home. After I knock at the gate, I am immediately greeted with all the bigger kids smiling faces and hugs. The big kids are all usually still dressed up in their bright yellow school uniforms which is absolutely adorable. After visiting and playing with them outside for a bit, I make my way up to the nursery, where I can usually hear and smell the babies before I actually see them. It’s surprising how much a little child can scream and poop, let me tell you what…
I spend the next four to five hours as “Tita Angie” (tita is Tagalog for “auntie”). I’m either found wiping little baby butts, reading books and cuddling with kids, pushing toddlers around in plastic cars and on the swings, singing, dancing or trying to get food into the children’s mouths and not all over their clothes during feeding time. There are ten children in the nursery at the children’s home and each and every one of them are going to be impossible to leave behind in a few days.
These children have been through so much in their short little lives and God has rescued each one of them out of such despair and given them lives filled with love, hope and promise’s of a bright future. The Lord has brought those kids out of abuse, neglect, poverty, sickness and abandonment and given them people who love them like Christ loves them. While I am absolutely heartbroken to leave these kids, their love, hugs and kisses behind, I know that they are in such a loving, Christ-centered home where they are given everything they need.
I pray the Lord will bring me back to New Faith Children’s Home after the World Race and I pray that each and every one of those children walks in the confidence that they are sons and daughters of the Almighty God and grow into young men and women seeking the Lord’s heart. I know the staff are doing everything in their power to make that happen and it was such a wonderful gift from God getting to partake in a month of their beautiful lives.
I am constantly reminded that we are made in God’s image when I look at the faces of these children. I want to leave you with some photos of them, because they truly are the most darling kids you will ever lay your eyes upon! Enjoy, and remember what Matthew 19:14 says, “Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
