As I sit in this sports bar and watch the Colts game, I am thinking about the fact that by the end of this week, I will be trading in my boots for flip flops. This instantly creates a smile on my face.
I love warm, even hot, weather! I began writing this blog on an envelope that I found in my purse because I realize I am so behind in updating all of you! I have been trying to do all of my last minute stuff like sightseeing, hanging out with friends, writing thank you cards, and packing (this one has been quite a task and I am still trying to become an expert.) So, let me give you a little update!
First, let’s talk about money. I have $7,900 sitting in my account as of now which means I still need to raise $7,600 to be fully funded. This also means that people are still giving! So thank you, thank you, thank you! If you are still wanting to support me financially, you may do so by clicking “Support Me” on the left side of this blog or by mailing a check to Adventures in Missions PO Box 534470 Atlanta, GA 30353 and make sure to put in the memo Angela Allen January 2013 Route 1. There are also some other ways to support me too. If you live in Nashville, I will be having a fundraiser at the Chick-Fil-A in Brentwood on January 14th from 5-8 PM. They will be donating 15% of all sales from those who bring in a flyer and hand it to the cashier when they check out. So, if you need a flyer, please e-mail my friend Cherice at [email protected] and just print it out for yourself, then make some copies for your friends, and pass those out too! Also, if you would like a support Angie’s World Race t-shirt, please make a donation then e-mail my mom at [email protected] with your size and address. If you also would like to donate but don’t want to go through Adventures in Missions then you may get the donation to my mom and she will know what to do with it!
Alright enough about money, you probably want to know some details about what I am doing right? I am currently staying in Virginia with a friend of mine and have been able to see Baltimore and DC over the last few days. On Tuesday, I have to check in to a hotel near here in VA to begin training for our launch. Then on Wednesday or Thursday, I am not really sure, I will be on a plane to Costa Rica. My team will be working in Alajualita, Costa Rica which is located near the capital city of San Jose. We will be partnering with 6:8 ministries. This organization does work with a feeding center, and does other work with children and people in the neighborhood. Other than that, I don’t really know anything else, except they have been having average temperatures of like 85!!! ![]()

Lastly, I am trying to enjoy all of my favorite things before I leave. I just had a slice of Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory. Yum! I do think most of these favorite things have been very unhealthy foods and that I may have gained 10 holiday pounds which is unfortunate. So New Year’s Resolution #1 -lose 10 lbs!!!
Here are few pictures from my pre-race journey!
