I don’t see any water

I’m surrounded by sand

I feel lost in this land

I look to the left

Then to the right

No other person is in my sight

You’re here alone for a reason

I hear a voice say from afar

I look up and see a shining star

Why is that star shining by day?

I yell as if someone can hear

Then look up again and nothing is there

Out here in the desert

I continue searching for water

Soon I come upon a fire

The voice returns and I hear

This is for you to be refined

This voice must be out of his mind

It’s hot in the desert

I do not need any fire

But within me I’m drawn to it—desire

I look at my skin

My feet are turning gold

My hands are so silver and bold

I look back at the sky

Nearly speechless, I utter “why?”

Because you’re my child—I cry.

Zechariah 3:19-And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver,
and test them as gold is tested.  They will call upon my name, and I will answer them.
I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
