To my superhuman family & friends:
(since my last email formatted in a super special way, this is now going on the blog! ha!)
With 10 days of missionary training camp just under two weeks away, and this whole entire dream becoming an actual reality, I thought it was time to send an update! If you are reading this post, you have probably been one of the many individuals in my life that have partnered with me towards supporting my 11 month- 11 country missionary journey on The World Race 2020, and I am writing to say the biggest THANK YOU!
Maybe you’re one of my best friends or family members. Maybe you’ve been a guest at one of my tables at the restaurant where I work, or a co-worker in one of them. Maybe you’re someone I’ve met at or through Passion City or The Fringe; strangers who have become friends, and friends who have become family. Maybe you’re a fellow actor, or one of my theatre teachers, professors, or directors. Maybe you’re someone that went to Parkview High School with me, whom I hadn’t talked to in nearly 10 years until this adventure came about. Or maybe you’re a God-wink-friend in which the Lord quite literally gifted a connection to us in some irrational and abnormal way (there are some crazy stories with this one, ya’ll) Regardless of our relationship, you are most certainly someone who is making this dream of sharing my overflow of joy, gratitude, passion, and love that I’ve personally received from Jesus, with the rest of the world a reality for me. For this, I am eternally grateful.
Thus far, you’ve donated for $16 on the 16th, you’ve adopted boxes for my birthday, you’ve bought personally designed t-shirts that you’ve been rocking, or you’ve just given generously because you wanted to give! Some of you have done all of the above! No matter if you’ve contributed $5 or $500, you have been a part of helping me raise $6,308 so far! Over SIX-THOUSAND dollars, and 1/3 of the way to my overall goal! I remember looking at $19, 200 back in January of this year and thinking ‘I don’t know HOW this is going to happen!’ But God always has a plan bigger than our little minds can even imagine. He has not only given me this specific calling, to give up life as I know it to serve His kingdom and share His love, but He’s written each of you into this story with me; quite literally.
Every single donation has a story attached; some kind of a special connection or beautiful relationship behind it. Some are just moments, like brief interactions and a desire for someone to give. And some are people in my life that have encouraged me and believed in me more than I could’ve ever believed in myself to get this far… and somehow you’re still here. You’re still walking beside me through every step of the way; through the gorgeous, the grueling, and the grit. It’s my prayer and desire that you’ll keep walking with me, friends. I need your love, prayers, and support now more than ever!
Though there is such a large footprint on the foundation of reaching my entire goal, there is still a long ways to go! I have several new upcoming fundraisers in the works as I head towards meeting my next deadline of $10k by December 13th. Jewelry sales through “Go Rings,” necklaces sold through “Keys for the Journey,” a worship night of praise and self-written spoken word poetry, Christmas gift sales through One Mission, a parents-night-out lottery, and even a Sips n’ Strokes girls-night-out for the ladies! Please keep your eyes out for all that is to come! I’ll be sending email updates as well as posting heavily on social media!
As I enter into the upcoming months of training camp and launching all of these new fundraising opportunities, I ask that you will lift me and my squad up in prayer over all that is unfolding! I am a part of an absolutely incredible group of nearly 40 people that I will be embarking upon this journey with, and I’ll be meeting all of them at training camp in just two weeks from now! I ask that you pray for God’s provision to surround us with cohesiveness, love, clarity, and
togetherness as this will be our family for the next year!
In closing, I just want to say ‘thank you’ a thousand more times. I just don’t know if ya’ll understand what a foundation of stepping stones you are laying down for my faith, and for the salvations of those all across this globe. God is doing big things in and through my life, and I wouldn’t be able to be acting on those big things if it weren’t for your generosity. Your willingness to say ‘yes’ to supporting me allows me to say ‘yes’ to accepting God’s call over my life. So thank you. Thank you for being a part of this story with me… this is only the beginning!
With belly aching laughs, brightest joy, and biggest love,
Angelica Spence
