So this week the lord has had me in the palms. And if you don’t know, the psalms are songs of praise to God, written by David. And how beautiful and wonderful they are. I have truly been in awe of the unfailing love, faithfulness and splendor of God and who he is and all he does for us.
As most people know, the lord has gifted me with a voice to praise him in song. And some years ago while serving on the worship team in my home church, my pastor had asked me and challenged me to write a song. My first thought was “ I don’t write the words I just sing them.”. But behind that was a fear that what I had to say and the story I have been given just wasn’t enough to impact people.
But in reading the Psalms, I realized that David is just telling his stories big or small and declaring who the lord is and how good and powerful he is, and how faithful he has been through the trials of his life.
Today my mentor Kate said, “We all have the same core testimony, we were dead and now we are alive, but how we got to where we are is different and that part of our testimony is what touches individual people.”. This really hit me because even if my testimony can hit one person it matters, because he leaves the 99 for the 1.
So this week, realizing that my testimony matters and reading Davids beautiful Psalms the Lord has reminded me of the challenge from my pastor and has ignited in me a passion to not only dig deeper into his word, but to also speak with the words that he has put in my mouth. And in my case to sing with the words he puts into my heart, and to sing a new song, MY own song to him.
