Team Awaken left South America and headed off to Asia–Bangalore, India was our first stop. We partnered with Abhayam, a local rehab center, and spent our days doing projects with the men and women there. We did devotionals every morning with the guys, sang worship songs and then got to work… Usually that included some kind of gluing. India is a place of the head bobble (which often times left us confused as to whether we had gotten a yes or a no). Zach’s video shows each of us trying our take at the head bobble, the girls also got to dress in saris for church.
We lived with an incredibly Godly couple, who relied on the Lord to begin their ministry and continue to rely on the Lord for support in order to sustain their ministry. They have two sons who are absolutely adorable and loved to CONSTANTLY play Uno. We played games with the men at Abhayam (carrom board, badminton, keep away, Uno, spoons) and laughed a lot! We also lived around the corner from a newly opened dance studio. One day while we were out buying fruit we popped our heads in to see some Bollywood, the dance instructor performed for us and invited us back to take lessons. 5 of us took the class and then performed some of the moves in our neighborhood; my personal favorite being the cow in the background (yes, there were many cows roaming the streets).
My two brothers for the month: Isaac and Jojo!
Due to the earthquake in Nepal P squad went to Hyderabad for our debrief. There team Awaken spent our last few days as a team together and had a color war for one of our last team times!
Enjoy Zach’s incredible video of our amazing time in India!
