While walking down Bangla street heaviness consumes me. The presence of children walking down the street with their parents shocks me. Women in short, tight dresses and stilettos luring people in to the bars, while men stare at them like a juicy piece of meat is appalling.
As I take a seat at the bar and began talking to my friend she quickly ends our conversation to talk to a man who just sat down. In desperation of trying "make a sale" to provide for her family she will do WHATEVER it takes to get and keep this guys attention. In the corner of my eye I notice another friend, who has already been bought for the night, hesitatingly perform for her customer. The empty look in her eyes lets me know there is a longing for something more! Something more that ONLY JESUS can fill. She craves to feel wanted, to feel accepted! She craves to be loved and to feel real love. Something we all crave!
As we left Jesus put on song on my heart to pray over them, "when I'm with my daddy innocence is restored" Little did I know as I was praying over them God was at work on something much deeper inside me. God reminded me I am more like her than I realized!
