This month is off to an amazing start. On the world race we never really know what to expect when arriving at our house for the month. Sometimes we are in a church sleeping on the floor in our tents. Other times we might be blessed with a bed. Our team could not have been prepared for what came this month. We arrived at a guest house with 5 bedrooms, and a bathroom in each one. Our jaws hit the floor. Yep, this month I have a full size bed and a bathroom all to myself. Well, in my room I have a squatty toilet, BUT HEY I’ll take it. I’ve only had a bed, electricity, and indoor plumbing two months out of the seven.
This month we are working with an amazing pastor who is filled with joy of the Lord. It shows on his face in his eyes and smile. Because of his excitement, we were very anxious to start ministry. We began our first day at the church intercessory prayer meeting. I enjoyed seeing the body of Christ come together lifting one another up in prayer. The next day we went to evangelize in a majorly impoverished area. As we finished ministry children began to gather around us. We had a blast playing games with them.
The following day we went to the hospital to pray with the sick. I love this kind of ministry but it was unusually challenging given the recent death in my family. As I pressed through the tears I quickly felt led to pray blessings over the nurses. One of the nurses asked me to share my faith with her. Before we left she gave the translator her number. She’s already contacted them about coming to church Sunday, I can’t wait!
Today we went to an orphanage for children who had been living on the street and children with AIDS. I taught them the story of the wise man. When I asked, “What kind of hard times do you go through?” They responded with things like “not having shoes, going to bed hungry, not having school supplies.” My heart broke for them so I shared the only thing I could in that time- JESUS. I reminded them to cling to Jesus when life is hard because He is our rock and the only one who helps us get through the storms.
