I was born July 25th, 1985, which makes me 26!! Time flies when you have fun. I had a rough start growing up, but I grew up in the church and God was my source of strength. In 8th grade I moved into my grandparent’s house and I got my life back on the track it needed to be on. Shortly after graduating high school one of my friends asked me if I wanted to go on a mission trip. I was like huh, sounds fun. Well that changed my life. I went to Japan for 3 weeks to teach English. This adventure fueled my passion for missions.
A few years later, God took me to New Orleans for a week. Loved it and wanted to go back. So summer of 2008 I went to back and interned all summer. My time in New Orleans was an adventure to say the least. Working in Central City around the super dome, you never to knew what to expect. Everything from prostitution and drugs, to undercover cops jumping out of cars with guns. The end of my time in New Orleans came to a chaotic end when we didn't have projects for the teams that were coming down.We partnered with Beacon of Hope, which is where I met Drew Adams. I wanted to stay in New Orleans long term, so I asked Drew if he had any internships available. He said yes, gave me the Adventures in Missions website information and told me to check it out. While on the website I noticed this thing called the World Race, intrigued by it I began digging for more information. I quickly discovered that it would cost 14,000 for the trip. I thought there was no way God would call me to do that all that work!!
I continued digging through the website and got in touch with Christy Barnard in the AIM office. I found out that AIM didn't have any openings in New Orleans, but they did in Kentucky. I had to decide if I wanted to go back to New Orleans, or test the waters with this new organization in Kentucky. I am all about adventure, so after much prayer, I jumped right on board! My life was forever changed! While in Kentucky I learned how to listen to God's voice, that I could silence the voices around me, the voice of the devil, and my own selfish desires. What a concept! I stayed in Kentucky for 2 weeks before coming home.

About a month after the earthquake AIM posted on facebook that they need project leaders in Haiti. Two weeks after that post I was on a plane to Santo Domingo headed to Haiti.
While in Haiti,
I met several World Racers from all over that went all over. It stirred up my curiosity. I began thinking, what if I can do this. More importantly what if God is calling me to this! In May I applied and was accepted to go on the 2010 September trip. Shortly after acceptance I found out that my grandpa died. I flew home for the funeral and on my flight back to Haiti I won a free round trip ticket back to Haiti! Assuming that this was God’s plan for my life I called the AIM people back and put my trip on hold.
I asked God what his plan is for my life. What do you want me to do? How do you really want me to serve you? A few days later I was driving home from work and the world race was dropped heavy on my heart. I knew this time it was straight from God, and that He was serious! A few weeks later, I was accepted for the September 2011 Squad.
and THAT’S MY STORY!!!
(well, it’s really HIS story.)
