Okay where were we?
Blood test. Right!
So we are sent to the lab and wait another 30 minutes because the doctor decided to take a break. Time is nothing here in Kenya. By this time I was fighting to stay awake and Nikki had gone off with Pastor Joseph to take care of more payments so I was going to lie down. Just when it seemed that my eyes closed I was called to behind the curtain. Nikki walked in just as I was being called and decided to come in with me. A decision I am forever thankful for. I watched like a hawk to make sure he was going to use a clean needle. He did. Thank the Lord! Nikki asked if I wanted to hold her hand and at first I said no, but remembering the last time I had my blood drawn I passed out. I quickly said yes. Somehow I knew I would this time too. You see I threw up everything I ate and I was sure my blood sugar and my iron were both low and I did not want to end up on the floor. Sure enough before he was even done I was in her arms. I remember hearing her call to Haile for help and Haile walking in and saying "Oh my goodness she is purple what happened?" When I came around I said "I am going to throw up." Haile pointed to the trash can next to me and I threw up. Twice. The doctor got another doctor to help me into a wheelchair and wheeled my to a bed in the ER so I could lie down. I was out.
Nikki and Haile were told that it would be about 30 minutes before the results came through. I slept on. I was woken up to hear that I had Typhoid and they needed to take my temperature. Insert thermometer under the armpit. Drumroll please….FEVER! I don't remember what it was, but I needed a shot in the rear to bring it down. That was probably one of the most painful shots in my life. It kept me awake all night because my hip of all things and the region on my rear were in so much pain. Finally we left the hospital and headed home where I could attempt to sleep.
They next day I started my new regiment of drugs. Medicine to help with the nausea 3 times a day. Medicine for the Typhoid twice a day. And medicine for the pain 3 times a day. Here is where I learned my team was where I was supposed to be. They brought me up my food when I was too weak to go down to eat. They told Rosemary about what I could and couldn't eat. They poured my water, reminded me to take my drugs, did my laundry, and covered me in prayer. Not only that, but they all pitched in to cover the cost of the hospital visits. The pastors along with other people would come up to the room asking to pray over me and boy oh boy do they have powerful prayers. I know this is where I am supposed to be. I asked God for something big to change my heart and he threw me Typhoid. haha. I guess something had to get my attention.
Although I feel better now, relatively speaking, I am still so so exhausted and have little to no appetite. I just eat because I have to. I've been on bed rest since Sunday really I guess and now that it's Saturday I am a little frustrated that I don't have the energy to go out and do ministry. I am sad I am missing out. The doctor said to take it easy though because the meds which I am on for 10 days will wipe you out. Hopefully I will be able to go to church tomorrow and after another team rest day on Monday I should be good to go on Tuesday. Hopefully. Thank you so much for your prayers. Please keep them coming. They help out so much!
