If you have been reading my blogs
you know that life in Panajachel has not been easy on me. But it is so worth
it. I am growing and changing. We work hard because even though we wish we
could change the world we know that it is only done by changing and helping one
life at a time. Our first few days here we helped work on the hotel we are
staying at. It’s a private hotel only for missionaries and they finished our
rooms 3 days before we arrived!

We have also been going to a couple different church
services; Mi-Reto has services Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. We have bible
study with Pastor Ben Monday-Wednesday and boy oh boy is he just jammed packed
full of the Holy Spirit. Teaching English, evangelism, and hanging out with the
youth group have also been our list of things we are doing. The best one though
is working on finishing construction of a house for a family of 5 with the help
from of the church members.

            Carlos
and Miriam are on fire for God. Their 3 boys Carlos, Abraham, and Isaiah are so
much fun to hang out with. Communication is not easy because they speak Spanish
and we only speak English. Thankfully however sign language and knowing a
little bit of Spanish comes in handy. The family has helped in building their
house as well. We have mixed cement for the walls, put on  roof, cleared a ton of garbage off their
property, built window and door frames, etc. We learn every day. The best part
is not only are we pouring into them, but they are pouring into us. Miriam has
taught us how to make tortillas. The family buys us drinks and cookies. They
are patient with us. They boys are hilarious, especially Isaiah who has
captured my heart. It’s not easy to understand what he is saying, but he doesn’t
care as long as you play with him.

It’s hard work and the days are long, but as soon as your
head hits the pillow you are out. It’s a good feeling. I am definitely starting
to see why God has called me to this place. And even though I still have a lot
to learn, I can’t wait to see how God uses us next to change one life at a time.
