I’ve come to realize a few things about myself that I never knew until I went on the race. Even though it’s only been two months in God is still opening my eyes. I have never really spent a holiday away from my family until the race and it has been harder than I thought. We celebrated Thanksgiving here by making a “traditional Thanksgiving meal for about 80 people. We all took shifts in the kitchen preparing the food. Chicken instead of turkey, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes with chicken gravey, squash, carrot cake, banana bread, and rolls was our feast. It was good and I loved it, but it still doesn’t change the fact that I missed being home. I celebrated and gave thanks with my family in Christ. Believe me I now have many more reasons to be thankful for.

enjoying food and friendship and being thankful

Top 11 things I am thankful for:
11. My mac
10. Washer and dryer
9. A closet and dresser
8. Dish washer
7.Hot showers
6. Food that I like
5. My car
4 The ability to talk to my friends and family whenever wherever
3. My community back at home
2. My family and friends
1.Traditions

Now you may be asking why traditions top my family and friends and to be honest they are probably tied, but I never knew how much I loved the traditions I have in my life. It’s hard not having game nights with Becca and Brad at Grand Coney, holiday traditions, potluck dinners and then the Gathering with girls from Hope, and the list could go on. When I think about the future I can’t help to think about what traditions I want to continue. I am so thankful for them and the people that I do them with. It means a lot to me and though it may seem weird to some I would trade them for the world. I can’t wait to be home next year to catch up on all the things I missed. Be prepared 😀

*Side note
Sorry I haven’t written more blogs. Life is pretty much the same here day after day. God is still challenging me and I am still growing. This is one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but the outcome will be so worth it. I am so very thankful for all of you who have supported me in prayer or financially. Without you and your encouragement these changes and growths would not be happening. Some of the stories I have told from back home have spoken to people. Thanks for being apart of this race too!
