Here goes my bio…
My name is Angela Buoncervello. I was raised in Celebration, (the town that Disney built) Florida. Celebration was an amazing place to grow up, but not your typical childhood. Our parents used to drop us off at Disney almost every day in the summer, they used the parks kind of like a babysitter. My friends and I would enjoy the rides, make friends with the park guests, and on occasion stir up a little trouble.
I am an only child and I have never been on a mission trip to date. I am 24 years old and I have an international business degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University where I studied part of the time abroad in London. I also had the opportunity to live abroad when I was younger in Italy. I think that is where I developed my love for travel!
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior when I was in forth grade at First Baptist Church of Orlando, where I attended with my mom. I remember it like it was yesterday, we were about 40 rows up toward the balcony, and when the preacher did the altar call and asked the people who accepted to come to the front, I looked at my mom and told her I had accepted Jesus and asked her to go to the front with me. She told me that it was a very big step and if I wanted to go I had to go alone. I was to chicken to go, and still regret not making a public profession of my faith that day. I think that is one of the reasons I strive to live my life out loud now.
My dad is Catholic and the rest of my family is Jewish so growing up religion was a bit confusing for me, as to what I believed and what traditions to follow. We moved to Celebration when I was in middle school, at that time there was only one church in the town, it was Presbyterian so that is where I was baptized and confirmed. The Presbyterians only sprinkle, and even though I know God considers that baptism I have always desired the full submersions route. I am hoping that I will be able to accomplish that while on the race.
As for my walk, I did not truly start living my life for Christ until I went to high school. In ninth grade I transferred from a public school to a private Christian school and that is when the fruits in my life started to show from all the seeds that had been planted along the way. Although there have been MANY struggles and several deep valleys since then I strive to keep my feet firmly planted in the Lord! While in college I was asked by a local church to be there middle and high school youth director and I absolutely loved it. The Lord used that time in my life to grow, strengthen, and mold me for ministry!
After I graduated I took over the daily operations of my families Real Estate Company, but that was never where my heart was. My passions have always been children (toddlers & teenagers- what a combination), serving others, and traveling. My family knew this, but it always seemed as though I was obligated to work in the family business.
Recently, while I was in Egypt with my alma mater, the Lord spoke to me and my entire life has changed. I am now serving Him each day at a ministry called House of Hope, a not- for profit Christian organization for hurting teens. I am a house parent, so I actually live with teens battling every problem imaginable, including addition, abuse, and uncontrollable anger to name a few. For the first time in my life I am seeing spiritual warfare first hand and striving to combat it through persistence, positive influence & attitude, and a whole lot of prayer! The Lord is teaching me so much during this season in my life and defiantly preparing me for the amazing adventures of the World Race.
There is a lot more, but as you can see I’m a talker- a little weak on the listening side but God is teaching me!
