I can’t believe we are halfway through our ministry here in Antigua. It’s going to be hard to pick up in two weeks and move to a new place.

Here are the key events from the past week:

Major sinus and allergy issues + dehydration = three days filled with snot, feeling miserable and missing out on the free salsa lesson.

Even though I was still not feeling well, I made the trek to the hospital on Thursday. The fear was gone and we had a wonderful morning of hanging out with our special friends and making them laugh.

I do not like street mimes . . . especially when I get roped into participating in the show and then get chased down for a tip by said mime on his unicycle.

We made the trek to the Guatemalan version of Sam’s Club with our orphanage contact and it was glorious. I now have seven deodorants in my possession.

I’m falling hard for sweet little Ale at the orphanage. The thought of moving to Guatemala to be eligible to adopt her has crossed my mind a few times.

We took five of the orphanage kids to get their shots on Friday. For the most part they were great, but once the Tylenol wore off, they were NOT happy campers.

I experienced my first earthquake (and as my dad pointed out, hopefully my last). The bed shook for 15 to 20 seconds! I realize this is small potatoes for my Cali friends but it was a big deal to me.

The best way to work off the largest plate of nachos I have ever seen in my life is to lock out the boys, crank up the music, turn off the lights, don headlamps in strobe mode and dance until every part of you hurts.

I am now FULLY FUNDED! When I first signed up for the race, I could not fathom where the funds would come from. I’ve never taken such a huge leap of faith and God is certainly faithful with His provisions. I am blown away by the generosity of my supporters and will be forever grateful for this opportunity to love on the unloved.

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34: 1-3
