Hello my people. Long time no writing. It’s been a while. Sorry about that. I hope and pray that all of you are doing well.
Some of you may be wondering what is happening with the race during this difficult time. So far our training camp has been pushed from July to September. Training camp is when all of us go down to Adventures in Missions headquarters and train for the mission field with our route members and other racers. From training camp we will launch to our first country. But things can change and adjustments made. So please pray for the staff and racers!
During this time being in quarantine, I’ve been learning a lot. Learning about myself, my family, the world, and just people in general.
Life is weird. It’s spectacular. It’s precious. That has been a recurring theme in my brain the past month or so. Thinking about life makes me happy. Thinking about how much you’ve grown, what you’ve been through, what you’ve overcome, happy moments, the best times , the worst times. Life is such a story. Your life is such a beautiful story book. You are so special that you don’t even have the same story as anyone. I love that.
I have been thinking about Jesus’s story a lot. Easter really got to me this year. I love Jesus’s story. (If you have the chance, watch The Chosen, a show about Jesus and His disciples and His character in between miracles). I love thinking about Jesus, not just the miracles He performed but who He really was. His character. I mean, He was a human. He knew everything that was in store. He knew Peter would deny Him. He knew Judas would betray Him. Still, He chose them. I like to think about how He was with His disciples. They joked around. They traveled together. They ate together. I love to think about Jesus as my friend and the kind of friend He was to His disciples. He is our friend.
This got me thinking about friends. Community. Community has been very important for me in this time. Community is so important all the time. This time can be really dark. We can be consumed by our thoughts.Thinking thinking thinking. Sometimes too much thinking can lead to a dark hole that can be hard to get out of especially when you’re not thinking positively. I found myself in that spot a couple times. But the thing that really got me out and helped were my friends. My friends who sent me a letter in the mail. Who sent me a text message or a snapchat. Zoom calls. Facetime. My family helped me out. Walking in the park and passing people by with a smile and a simple “hello” helped me out. God didn’t create us to sit in our homes and do nothing. He created us to work and to form a community. We need each other. We need to support each other and check in with each other.
With that being said, if you feel distant or find yourself struggling during this time, you can email me, text me, dm me your address and I would love to send you something. Or even if you just want to talk I am here for you. The Bible says in Proverbs 27:9 “A sweet friendship refreshes the soul.” AMEN to that.
I also challenge you to be like Jesus. What would He do during this time? How do you treat your family? How do you treat your friends? Are you patient and kind?
Thank you guys for supporting me and following along with me. Message me if you need any prayer or encouragement during this time.
