But God

That phrase. Those two words. There is so much Gospel in that phrase. It shakes me. Overwhelms me.

My cousin Johnny spoke at my church a long time ago. He talked about that phrase. He talked about the word “but.” It’s really touching my heart especially in a time like this. When you throw that word in a sentence, the first half kind of just disapears.

The Google definition of “but”: used to introduce a phrase or clause contrasting with what has already been mentioned.

The word “but” takes away the value of the sentence before it. It redirects the whole conversation. It can change a positive situation into a negative one or a negative to a positive.

The world is in a really scary place. There’s a lot going on. People are scared. People are doubting. Things aren’t going our way. School is cancelled. Some are out of work and unemployed. I mean, my senior year is going down the tubes! My musical was post-poned! Something I’ve been working at for months. I’m not making any money. I think right now I have about two dollars in my bank account. Just being honest here! Most people have it worse than me. People are living in bad conditions. People are sick.

But God.

But God has a plan. But God died for us so we don’t have to live a life of fear. But God has us. He knows us and sees us.

But we woke up this morning. God gave me breath.

But God already has victory. He has victory over the coronavirus. He has victory over fear. He has victory over EVERY sickness. He breaks chains. He defeated death!!!

Although there is a lot of chaos in the world, God gives us so many reasons to be joyful. He gives us so many reasons to be happy. He calls us to be still and know that He is God. Eternity is in His hand. We are in His hands. The world will tell us to freak out and be consumed by fear. That’s what the world does. But I have never been more at peace knowing who my God is and what He has done in my life and in the world.

I’m tellin ya, when your eyes and heart are set on the Creator, life is BEAUTIFUL. Life is full of opprotunity. Life has purpose.

I’ve been reading this verse lately. It really opens my eyes to how powerful God actually is. How amazing He is.

“The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also flashed about. The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were not known.” Psalms 77:17-19

God is SO powerful. SO mighty. He has the power to break chains of sickness. He has the power to fill us with joy and peace. Set your eyes to Him. Surrender to Him. Your life will NEVER be the same. You will be surrounded by chaos BUT GOD will give you peace.

But God.
