Your life.
It turned out alright didn’t it?
At one point though, you looked around and didn’t like what you saw so you changed it.
But you didn’t have to.
Your life.
It turned out better than alright.
But yet you wanted more.
So you got it. But the more let you see the ugly in the world.
It showed you the parts that your life hid from you. The parts you read in books, saw in movies, talked about with friends but more brought it all to life.
Your life.
It’s actually pretty great.
Your parents, they love you even if they don’t show, they do.
Your siblings, they didn’t choose, but they would now.
Your friends, you scored, big time.
Your home, your car, your comforts, your freedom…everything about you is lucky.
Last night, we made it to Bangkok, Thailand, the place I will be calling home for the next month.
Last night, I went out for dinner and found myself right in the middle of the red light district.
Last night, I just wanted to cry. I wanted to understand people, I wanted to take their pain and I wanted to give them a better life.
Last night, I saw the evil in the world and I just wanted to cry.
Imagine your local bar street.
Got it?
Now, picture in front of each bar three rows of 10 or so chairs. Sitting on each chair is a girl, pretty but with makeup that seems to enhance the natural beauty. All the girls wearing a different outfit to fit the fantasy each man desires.
In front of each group of girls is their madame holding a laminated sign with pictures of each of the girls as if they were food on the dessert menu.
The girls sit there waiting to be picked by these men who will do and say what they choose because money speaks and holds power.
Now, picture this scene on a random street in the middle of Bangkok. The same street that leads you to money exchange stores. The same street that takes you to the mall to buy a new outfit. The same street you can buy a fruit smoothie.
And people walk all throughout the night not even blinking an eye to the women sitting in those chairs waiting to be bought.
The normalcy in it all.
Something I don’t understand. Something I probably will never be able to because if I did I’d fully grasp the evil in the world, something I wouldn’t be able to handle.
There are certain pictures in life that we see that may never go away. This is one of those pictures.
My prayer tonight is for those women but mainly for God to come back and to resurrect this world so that we, His children, will never have shed another tear or have another hurt, or sell another piece of our body. I’m praying for heaven to fall and to fall fast.
Your life.
It’s great.
Realize that because tonight you aren’t sitting on a chair waiting to bought.
Your life is good because you, you are free.
