New Letter

Dear Friends,

 

For those of you that I haven’t had a chance to tell yet, I will be leaving for 11 months the first week of October on a mission trip to 11 countries with a group of 48 other people who love God and love people.  A few days ago I returned from the Adventures in Missions World Race training camp and I set out to write a letter explaining to you all the things that I will be doing and all of the places your money and prayers will make a difference if you choose to support me. I wanted to try and tell you about how awesome training camp was and how great all the people were. I wanted to tell you how I know this will be the hardest, most rewarding year of my life. But no matter how many different ways I have tried to write this letter I feel like I can’t get my heart out on the page. I feel like I could write ten pages and I still couldn’t show you how the Lord has broken my heart for the people in these countries and for my team. And so after many drafts and lots of frustration trying to explain to you why I have to go I, realized that I don’t have to.

 

As I tried to do this, I read a lot of blogs and watched a lot of the videos that past Racers have posted. But I couldn’t find one, or even a few that really got across what we are doing the way that I wanted to. So after four hours of searching the web high and low for that perfect blog or video that would help you understand why I am going and why this is a something you should support, I decided that no matter what I show you, or tell you, that it really comes down to whether or not the Lord is telling you to support me.

 

What I can tell you is that we are going to these places to bring Jesus to the people in a real way, meeting their needs and showing them the love of Christ. Teams in the past have done things like helping girls in the red light districts of Asia get plugged into local ministries that teach then real skills to get them out of the sex trade, building bathrooms for people displaced from their homes in Peru from the earthquake, working at orphanages, supporting medical teams, and lots of other amazing stuff. What all my team will be doing is yet to be revealed to us, but I can tell you some things about World Race. They are committed to helping people in real ways and getting them plugged into local ministries and to bringing awareness to all of the injustice in the world so that we all might gain a heart for His people. The same things are important to me and that is why I have chosen World Race. I will do my best to be Jesus with skin on to all of the people that I am going to be spending time with this next year.

 

I know that God has called me to this trip with these people. I know that He is going to provide the money for this trip how ever He thinks is the best way. So I encourage you to follow whatever He places on you heart and know that He will bless you for following His will and all I ask is that you search your heart and listen to what you find there. I promise you that I will be a good steward with the money that God provides for me to go on this trip. I can assure you that people’s lives will be changed in a permanent way, that will benefit them and their communities.
