After having spent some time in Cambodia, and not just hearing about all the crazy things from the past here. But also seeing may of the things that carry over to today. Almost everyone you meet here has a story about how they lost family members during the genocide of the Khmer Rouge Regime. And it would be hard not to have a story when almost one third of the population was killed. They still don’t know an exact number and never will. They are still finding new killing fields. And even the ones they know of, they don’t have any idea how many bodies are actually buried in the mass graves. As we toured one of the killing fields, we could see pieces of clothing and bones being exposed from the rainy season that had just passed. There were new areas that had just been roped off because the pathway was starting to be worn down enough that new graves where found under them. But they don’t have a budget to dig them up and give them proper graves. So they just stay in unknown mass graves, in unknown numbers.
We have been told that 80% of the population here is under the age of 30 and it looks to be true. It is sad to be missing so much of the older generations. But the good part is that God is reaching these youth and they are on fire. They are excited about his word. They aren’t afraid to share it. They don’t feel like they have to wait until they have it all figured out before they start to share it. They get saved and they turn around and start dragging everybody they can back with them. They are serious about prayer in an amazing way. They want to travel and to bring the Word to other countries. And I believe that this is going to become a reality for many of them. I see a time coming when we are sending people to Cambodia, not to come and teach Cambodians about God, but rather to come and learn from them how we can start a revival like the one they are starting even now. I believe that God is doing crazy stuff here and that it is a place to keep an eye on. So keep praying for Cambodia because they are praying for you. And it’s working.
