In the old testament God is known as Jehovah Rapha – the LORD who Heals. When I think about healing, whether it is instant or over time we know it comes from the LORD became He is the Healer! (Exodus 15:26, Jeremiah 3:22, 30:17, Isaiah 30:26, 61:1, and Psalms 103:3).
I went to the doctor on Monday (April 2nd) to get a second look at my knee. Lets just say I was amazed by the news. She told me, “you knee is healing on its own. You should be pain free within the next month if you take care of it.”
Can I get a praise to the LORD for HIS incredible healing? Seriously, my knee was broke and ACL torn. My knee doesn’t even need surgery! I am walking day by day without pain. My emotions of brokenness, sadness, and self pity have been restored to wholeness, joy, and praise to the Father!
Beyond all of this, before I even heard the second evaluation, I held tightly to the healing even when the pain started to sink back and the doubt tried to creep in. I remember the day after the LORD touched my knee, and because of that expereince I began praying for people the very next day for healing at the local gather of believers.
Why? Not because I was any more qualified than anyone else. Not because I had any more power, the Holy Spirit was already in me. It was because I had the faith that God would do it.
I prayed for an old Kazakh man who didn’t speak any English. The guy reminded me of my grandpa Hershey. He had a problem with pain in his wrist, elbow, and shoulder. God provided a translator and I began to take him through the same healing process I received the day before.
I had him close his eyes, breath in the Kingdom of God, and to keep His eyes focused on Jesus- the healer. I prayed once. I asked him to try out his arm. He responded, “there is still pain.” I prayed again and the LORD touched his arm. He was able to lift his arm over his shoulder which he couldn’t do before. Even though there may have been pain, God touched him and began the healing process in him. However, I proclaim that it was healed because I don’t know his pain. He walked away feeling so loved with hope in his eyes.
Healing started to happen. I prayed for a woman’s back, a woman lymph nodes, a young mans face, a girls finger, and an elderly woman’s blind eyes! What? You have got to be kidding me! How would God trust me to pray for all these people with boldness for healing? Simple, because I am His son and He loves me.
Not everyone who I prayed for got healed physically, yet God did a work in each of their hearts. One of the moments I will never forget was after praying twice for the blind eyes of the elderly woman she pointed her face up toward me and said, “I can see even more clearly spiritually. I am a daughter of the King.” I am amazed to see the love that she received and I believe she walked away with a greater healing than I could ever understand.
God is amazing and HE does amazing things as we are obedient to Him in the right moment and time. Hearing the voice of the LORD, knowing your identity, and choosing humility are amazing keys to seeing God do incredible things in life.
Every pray for someone and nothing happen? I’ve done that hundreds of times. What if you knew you were one prayer a way from seeing a breakthrough? Wouldn’t you keep praying?
Jesus is the Healer, I am not. Jesus is the Way, I am not. Jesus is the Truth, I am not, Jesus is the Life, I am not.
“He must become greater and greater, I must become less.”
Humility is a choice. It may be the hardest thing to choose because pride will always shout back. However, there is an incredible reward for choosing humility in the Kingdom of God. Its time to lay it down, let it go, run to the Truth, forget our opinions, what we see and what we think, Jesus is LORD and HE has the authority to decide.
Come Lord Jesus come!
