Since June, I have been in a long season of goodbyes, and while I do love all the close friends and family in San Antonio, North Dakota, California and Montana… I am SO ready to go and pursue this journey that Christ has called me to on the World Race. Also, God blessed me with an awesome suprise!

I had just said my last goodbye to my brother and flown to Denver for a layover. A couple minutes after everyone boarded, I was sitting and fully realizing how that was the last time I would see any of my famly for at least a year. About that moment the speaker above my head crackled saying,

“Is there an Andy Haak on board? Andy Haak please press the flight attendant button above your head.”

First of all, I was shocked they pronounced my last name correctly and even more surprised they knew my nickname! I looked towards the front of the plane and saw a woman in a blue hat walking towards me saying, “Andy!” It was my cousin Wendee! I was so shocked so see her I am not even sure what I said in response, but she gave me a big hug and took a picture.

She then announced to the passengers around me that I am headed to Cambodia on a missions trip and then she said goodbye.

I was in awe of how awesome God truly is. He brought about a blessing so far from expected, and it was some greatly needed, and refreshing encouragement.

Right now, I am in the Chicago Airport about to board my next 14 hour flight to Seoul South Korea, where we will have another long layover, then on to Cambodia!

A couple hours ago I was sitting and chatting with a teammate and had a couple of middle aged Korean men approached me with a smile asking if we were missionaries. I personally LOVE people approaching in this way. I eagerly responded, “YES!”

They told me they were missionaries to Chicago and were doing evangelism here at the airport to incoming Koreans! Yet, again. Another awesome refreshing moment to see the unity of the global church and how God brings us together.

Today has been super long, tiring, exciting, and a total whirlwind! I serve an amazing God who listens to my every word and longs for me to know Him more. As He reaches out to my heart in these interactions and surprises, I grow more in love with Him and these gifts.

Please be praying for my team and I as we try and sleep on this 14 hour flight and that the Holy Spirit would guide our every thought and action! For all my prayer warrior friends please specifically pray for:

  • Our hearts to align with the Father’s as we enter into this adventure

  • That I might be bold in declaring truth and take the risk to obey His leading

  • That I would overflow with love and affirmation from the Lord

  • For a powerful unity of the Spirit to overcome my team, so that we might selflessly serve those we minister too!

Also, I am still not fully fundraised! I have raised $13,742 of $16,561 so far and I need to raise the rest by January or I will not be able to stay on the World Race.

This is my last post on social media for the next 6 weeks that I will check BUT I am still fundraising! Please email me at: [email protected] if you have any questions or things you would like to hear about from my travels or the ministry we are doing!

I love you all!
