Kids are literally the sweetest people on earth, and sometimes, the wisdom they approach the world with is astounding! We can learn a lot from them, especially about God’s character! It seems like the Lord just loves to speak through the mouths of His children. Other times, kids just make you laugh with their silly answers and phrases! You never know what you are going to get when talking with them, but you can be sure that they can keep you on your toes!
In general, I like to blog about whatever I feel like the Lord is putting on my heart. This week, I has been a weird week of battling bronchitis and just overall not feeling my best. So I felt like I needed a little bit more help and brought in the big guns. I asked my sweet nephew and nieces (ages 4-9) for advice on preparing for launch, partly because I thought it would be cute and partly because they are absolutely hilarious. Here is what they said.
Packing advice:
- Bring a brush to brush your ugly curly hair (ouch)
- Bring some conditioner and body wash to wash yourself “so you won’t be as dirty as you always are” (another ouch… why am I doing this again?)
- Bring clothes “because you’ll be somewhere far away, and that’s why you need something with clothes”
- Bring your teddy so he can comfort you
- Bring blueberries to heal your Pokemon
- Bring your toys and a box to clean them up after you are done playing
Ministry advice:
- Tell them about Jesus
- Tell them not to hit ANYBODY
- Tell them to buy THEIR OWN Bibles
- Tell them to be fruitful and multiply! (I STILL can’t believe this one came out of their mouths!)
- Act like you are serious while you are laughing
- Do not laugh your head off
Survival advice:
- Bring a lot of water, “about a gallon”
- “No more lions and no more cheetahs to eat you”
- Wake up at 10am, preach until 6pm, and then watch TV and use the bathroom until you finally fall asleep at 10 pm. Repeat forever.
Friendship advice:
- Play basketball and other sports
- Stay together and hang out/play games with them
- Go to a restaurant
- Bribe them with money
- Teach them about Jesus
- Make sure nobody says bad things to you/cut the gossip out
- Invite them to your tent/”have a sleep over!”
Advice on building my own relationship with the Lord:
- Praise Him with singing
- Read Your Bible more
- Pray more often/Talk to Jesus more often
- Talk ABOUT Him more often
How great is that?! Out of the mouth of babes, I tell you! Who else on earth can make you cry, laugh, and think deeply all within a 5 minute time frame? Next time you find yourself in a bind, go talk to the little Einsteins in your life and prepare to be in awe (in one way or another)! I am sure they will make you think about things in a new (albeit unconventional) way!
In all things, be blessed!
