We officially made it to India! Our mob of nearly 50 people were recently trained, equipped, and entrusted to take the Gospel message across the world. During this training one of our leaders prayed for us, and cast a vision for our team; the vision was communicated to us in one phrase, “One thing,” she said, “the vision that I have for you guys as a team is… “one thing.” At first I thought she was going to continue talking and tell us what this one thing was; however she elaborated and let us know that the vision was indeed the phrase one thing. She then read us the passage Psalm 27:4-6 which reads,
“One thing have I asked of the Lord that will I seek after:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.”
The more I think about this, I come to realize, isn’t this the one thing we are all seeking? That we may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives and gaze upon the beauty of the Lord?
As we are trying to figure out how to live off a few dollars a day, the value of one thing becomes a reality. As we are beginning a much simpler life, we must give up the ability to have abundance and give up the desire to hold on to more than one thing.
At the moment our team M5:5 does not have a place to do ministry in India, our responsibility this month is to find Unsung Heroes, these are people who are living for God and have ministries that may need assistance form Adventures in Missions. So our goal is to partner with them in order for other Adventures in Missions teams to be sent to them in the future.
In that being said there are unknowns, where are we going to sleep, where are we getting food, and how will we find those faithful to the Gospel message in a place where the practice of evangelism is illegal. This is our reality, these are our concerns, these are our things. But our prayers as a team is for one thing, that we “gaze upon the beauty of the Lord.”
