Stepping off the plane in Honduras was so much like stepping off the plane in India over a year ago. Honduras was nothing like India, but it had the same feeling; a group of over 50 fresh from the excitement of launch, starting a new journey together.

What will this new journey look like?

With so many unknowns, only the Lord knows.

The unknown I was most interested in was what my role in this whole thing would look like. Leading over 50 participants divided into eight teams is a daunting task. How do you get to know them all well? How do you effectively come along side them on their journeys? What really is my place and purpose here? It felt overwhelming at times, but there was never a moment when we weren’t sure that God would show up and guide their hearts.

And we know how much He needs to show up. Setting out a second time, my perspective was quite different. And it was quite interesting to be on the other side, knowing at least in part what everyone was in for. There will be moments of victory and moments of seeming defeat. Schedules that leave room for nothing and others that leave room for everything. Times when everything seems to make sense and times when everything seems to be collapsing around you. God needs to show up and teach in times like these. At these times, my words can either fall to the ground or pierce a heart and the deciding factor is whether or not the words come from God.

So God showed me at the beginning and has been working in my heart since that this journey would be one of letting go. Funny how that was a major theme in the first go around, but some lessons can take a lifetime to learn. These are the Lords children. I need to let go and trust that the Father will lead His children into all truth, even if I never see the fruit of it.

With that in mind we have to make a decision; that we will let nothing keep us from moving forward. Even on the most challenging days when our direction is most unclear we will move forward with confidence. For “I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus.”
