I am continually amazed down here at the generosity of these people. They live in small houses sometimes two or three families. They live off the land and don´t have very much. Most of the houses have dirt floors an the still cook over an open fire. We have been recieved with generosity beyond measure. We have been given so much food and at one church one of the members even killed one of his cows for our group.
We know that they don´t have a lot to give and yet the give and they give. One village we went to the fed us lots of food for the day and then they gave us an offering. We all just sat there and didn´t know what to say. We don´t want to refuse it because we know how much it means for these people to give, but yet I realize just how selfish and ungiving I am in Comparison.
I think back to the Parable of the lady came to the temple and gave her last two coins. And Jesus said that she has given more than all the rest because she gave out of what little she had and the rest gave out of their abundance. I pray that God will melt me away and bring forth a heart of generosity and sacrificial giving.
