This will probably be my one and only post of S.A. It wasn't the best month regarding a few feelings, so I hope that's ok until I get home and can actually talk about it.
Upon arriving in South Africa, and after a 6 or 7 hour van ride, we finally made it to our destination for the night. With a total of about 30 people or so, we all piled into what could've been described as a mansion. Jenny, a godly and sweet woman recently lost her husbad to a freak accident two years ago. Kindly enough, she opened her doors to us for the night as we ravished around at the elegance and beauty of her lovely house. Sadly enough though, we had to leave the next day to get our India Visas for when we would fly out on July 29th to get there. In the meantime, we spent time with our freshly acquired Exposure Students. These 12 students came from the States to spend 1 month with us on the WR to get a better idea of what our lives were like, and to see if they'd like to also try it out one day themselves.
After hours of waiting we finally left J-berg (Johannesburg) to our true destination, Cookhouse, S.A. That bus drive turned out to be a 10 hour bus drive but on a Christian Service Line. On this bus, they started and ended with a prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, which we ound quite commical because never in a million years would we have seen that coming. The bus even had a spoken message, a children's christian film, and also an adult Christian film, and I must say that that was the greatest bus i've ever been on.
Even better than that though, I shared my faith and testimony with three guys. The minute I stepped on the upper deck of that bus, my eye caught those guys and they immediately reminded me of my old self and friends I use to spend time with, as I asked if I could sit with them. I must say, the conversation got heated that night, and many questions were asked. Each guy claimed to be a believer, but each didn't truly know what it meant to be a Christian, much less a true man of God. As I shared with them and about my past, there were lots of questions asked, and a lot of scripture based answers to feed the ongoing questions. Through the night, I narrowed my approach on one of the guys because he was the only one who truly desired to listen and grasp what was being said. Married and with a child, I challenged this man beyond what he probably could have ever expected before stepping on that bus. If anything was taken to heart or not for these three men is unknown to me. What I do know though is that a seed was planted, and that these guys truly heard the gospel that night on that bus.
Finally that mrning at 3 a.m., we arrived to Cookhouse, S.A. where we were picked up by Pastor Patrick. He rolled up in his Audi A4, took us to our house, and we went to sleep after 2 days worth of travel.
Ok, i'm going to have to carry this over to one more blog. I forgot that I wrote 2 for S.A.
Blessings, Andrew
