Last night we had the privilege of hunting with our host, Sai. Our prey: field mice. We headed out at about 9:00pm with traps in tow. We met a few other locals in the rice fields and began setting traps around small holes in the ground. Sai said we would swing back around in 10 minutes and check the traps. We continued setting traps until there was a scream and Sai began running. It took me a few seconds to realize what he was doing. Sai was in hot pursuit of a field mouse and was attempting to stomp on it. After all the traps were set, we stalked around the rice fields with our head lamps, looking for any movement along the ground. I was pretty good at spotting the mice, but jumping on them was another story. All in all we caught about 20 mice between stomping and the traps.
WARNING: Dead mouse below!!!
