I’m not sure about other World Racers, but the idea of buying gear that has to last me 11 months is extremely overwhelming. I made a trip today to REI with some friends in hopes of snagging some gear for the trip. A kind employee named Sarah approached me as I was looking at hiking backpacks to offer help. She asked me what I needed the bag for and I began to explain that I am going on an 11 month trip across the world. Before I could explain any more she stopped me and asked if I was going on the World Race. Turns out she went on the race in 2011 and knew some of my fellow World Race buddies! She answered all of my questions about gear and gave me first-hand advice on what gear was best. Needless to say I racked up at REI today! I would have been soo lost had it not been for God sending me Sarah for assistance. Thank you Lord for your divine appointments!
