Streets of Kathmandu, Nepal
Nestled within some of the biggest and most ferocious mountains in the world, I am currently living in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Maybe it’s because of the pristine views or the cooler climates….maybe it’s because of the numerous youth or the amazing ministry that we’ve partnered with this month…but this has easily been one of my favorite countries. We are currently living in a 4-story orphanage, with another rooftop patio, where we often congregate to hang out and glare in awe at the amazing Himalayas that surround us in every direction. Every day coming back to the orphanage we are quickly swarmed by the children who each want a personalized hug before we are allowed to continue onto our rooms…what’s not to love!

Jenny and Myself at the top of the mountain
So just today, Jenny and I decided that we wanted to hike to the top of one of the local mountains for our off day. Starting out, we had no idea the best way to get there or how long it would take us. After about 2.5 hours trekking through local villages, over rivers, by Hindu and Buddhist temples, and up about 2,000ft we finally made it to the top, where a local resort was situated. We rested for about an hour, took some pictures, and then began our journey back.

Krishna and Myself
As we are walking down the mountain side overlooking the various temples we come across a woman walking her 4 goats. Speaking English, Krishna begins asking the typical question, “where are you from?” While Americans are not very common in this part of the world, she seemed excited to tell us that back in 1995 she met Hilary Clinton. She continues telling us that Hilary, (her bodyguards), and her walked along the same path conversing and that she tried emailing Hilary many times after that day, but had not heard back yet (come on Hilary).Â

Buddhist Temple
From this conversation, Jenny begins asking the woman questions to soon find out that 2 years prior she had almost died, but had been prayed over by a local group of Christians, although was not a Christian herself. At that moment Krishna’s Aunt, who is a Christian, shows up just in time to pray with us for Krishna who has been suffering, once again, from some sort of pain in her face. After praying for her a smile came over face and she said she felt better. After a bit more conversation, we asked Krishna if she wanted to accept Jesus as her Savior and she agreed. So Jenny, myself, and the 4 goats surrounded her as we led her in prayer directly in the place where she had taken a photo with Hillary 16 years prior.Â
