Andrew:
I was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario. I grew up going to church but turned away from God during my teen years. One day I hit rock bottom and that’s when God revealed himself to me.
Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Psalm 124:7
He helped me escape a life of destructive behaviour and I have been following him faithfully ever since.
I love history and traveling as well as working with my hands and can’t wait to see how God uses me out in the missions field.
Alyssa:
I was born Alyssa Skopnik in Baden, Austria to my wonderful missionary parents who showed me first hand what it means to “go out into all the nations and preach the gospel (Mark 16:25). Ever since my passion for the gospel has grown and I have felt a deep calling to serve the least of these. I currently work as a hairdresser and am working part-time on my Bachelor of Fine Arts in pursuit of one day working as an Art Therapist. I know that God will use my love for art and for children to make an impact because even the weakest vessel can do great things through Jesus Christ.
Andrew and I met in 2008 at Aush-bik-koong bible camp. We became fast friends and started dating three years later. We have been married for 3 1/2 years now.
Although we have been on a mission trip before we have never been as a married couple. It is so exciting to embark on this trip together, we can’t wait to see how God uses this adventure to grow us as a couple and how he is going to use us for his glory!
