After being on the race for almost four months I have decided that there are some things you only encounter while on the race. I am going to write blogs about these events to let you all in on some of the funny/crazy things that are a part of The World Race.
Yesterday team Dynomi was traving back from Siem Riep, Cambodia to our ministry base across the country after a holiday to see Angkor Wat. We were up early to catch our 7:30am bus for a six hour ride home. When we got to the bus stop and saw our bus we were pleasantly surprised to see it was a pretty nice bus with good air con, space for our bags under our seats, and plenty of leg room (which is good as most of our team is tall and long legged, minus me of course). We made ourselves comfortable and settled in for the ride ahead.
About fifteen minutes into the ride the bus stopped and everyone started to get off. When we asked if we needed to get off we were told we had to switch buses. After asking around we were directed to our bus for the rest of the trip and we found it to be not nearly as nice. Not very good air con, much less leg room even for me, no space for our bags under our seats, and a very unhappy screaming baby. We were looking on the positive side though, at least on this ride there didn’t seem to be any Cambodian karaoke blaring over the speakers. We no sooner said this than the TV at the front of the bus clicked on and what came on? You guessed it, Cambodian karaoke! We later decided that the karaoke was better compared to the soap opera that came on later, but at this moment we all started to laugh, because what else can you do? It was funny, besides at least we had a bus with some semi-good A/C and a place to sit.
