This month our ministry has consisted of our team piling into a small pick up truck with a bunch of Africans and heading a half hour from our home in Mwanza to a village called Nomwelolalola. Yeah good luck pronouncing that one. It took us a week to get it down. We arrive and divide into teams and head out with our translators. We walk all over the village talking to people about who Jesus is.
Door to door evangelism is not my first choice in ministries to be totally honest with you. In fact it is my last choice on the list, but I have to say it has been better than expected. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it is now my favorite or that I love it now, but I have a better appreciation for it and it has been good to do follow ups with the families we have met.
Our days mostly look the same. We go out in the morning then come to the pastors home where we eat a lunch consisting of beans, rice, potatoes, pineapple, and sometimes greens. Then we head back out for a few more hours in the afternoon to do the same. The days are long and tiring walking all over. We have gone through rice patties (yeah I fell in if you were wondering) and over hills, through fields and to who knows where. We Mzungus are usually lost as to where we are at but the Africans know where we are so that is good. The days are long but good. This has been ministry this month.
