Tarantulas. Mosquito bites. Drime.
What´s DRIME do you ask? Although it sounds like some strand of Dengue, I assure you it is not.
DRama + mIME = drime
DRIME is a ministry tool where we use purely motions/acting to convey a message of the Gospel with music. This is useful when we won´t be able to communicate in their native tongue and where there could be a pastor to describe briefly what they will see.
The above three things all make me uncomfortable. And within the past week I have experienced all three. As a part of serving God here, we face having the known and earthly comfort ripped from us and in turn puts us straight into the unknown.
But what is faith if it is not tested?
Drime requires acting, acting requires me to do what doesn´t come naturally. Drime took me from to proverbial comfort zone.
My character was bondaged in sin (sin was represented by the red bandanas wrapped around our wrists) and was desperate for hope. Jesus appears offering Himself as the hope and atonement of her sin (the sin of the world). After He ascends from the cross He sets her free and gives her the chance at a new life with Him.
I´m glad I put myself out there and let the Lord teach me what He wants. There are trials. Like illness. There are frustrations when I want to control my surroundings. But through things like DRIME-ing, God teaches me and prepares me in how to be His hand in others´ lives.
Have you been ´DRIME-ing´ lately?
