As we finish our last day of ministry up at the hospital today, we’re all a bit blown away at how quickly this month has gone by. We have been so extremely blessed by our ministry contacts and our time here in Busia, Kenya. A few of us spent this morning at Pastor Gideon’s home sharing stories and laughing about how him and his wife ended up together. They’ll be celebrating their 25th anniversary this December, so we tried picking up some useful tips of what keeps the magic alive J

Tomorrow we’re having a goodbye celebration at the house with everyone we’ve served alongside this month. I know what you’re thinking, what would a celebration be without a  goat or two for dinner, right?? They’re actually sitting in our front yard as I type this out.  They’re really cute which makes it a bit more difficult to know we’ll be eating them tomorrow, BUT such is life 😉 FYI goats often times sound like little kids screaming which can be disturbing

ANYWHO!

We’re leaving on Friday to meet up with our squad in Jinja, Uganda until October 4th. We’ll be camping out, white water rafting down the Nile and a few of us will be bungee jumping over the Nile which should be pretty ridiculous J This past month our squad has seen a lot of trials and challenging times, so I think this squad camp out will be just what we need to get back in the groove of things. I absolutely love my squad, so I get pretty pumped whenver we get to spend some time together..even if it’s only a few days 🙂

On the 4th, Team Redemption will be heading to Lira which for the month which is in Northern Uganda. We’ll be working with Victory Outreach. Currently, the church has two schools (primary, secondary) with est. of around 1000 students. They are running a monthly HIV-AIDS program to give check up for locals. Also, other ministries include sports (netball, soccer), farming, etc.

My team is extremely excited to move into the next chapter of our race, and we would appreciate your prayers as we make this transition. Please pray for complete protection over us, unity as a team, health and safe travels. Please also pray that God would keep revealing more of who He is to each of us and that we would walk in the path that He’s laid out for us.

So far only a couple people from our squad have gotten malaria. The last 2 teams that stayed here in Busia had 11/14 with malaria!  With our teams 0/14 have gotten Malaria, Praise God that He’s been protecting us against it!!

Thank you so much for all of your prayers.

PLEASE CONTINUE PRAYING FOR RACHELLE URIBE AND ANMARI RIVERA. THEY BOTH NEED A SIGNIFCANT AMOUNT OF SUPPORT BY OCTOBER 1.   You can visit their blogs below to learn more about them and to support them financially:

 Proposition #1:

I will agree to eat COW TESTICLES live on video and will also post it on this blog and on facebook for your viewing pleasure if I meet my goal of $4500 by Oct 1! I will even film the trip to the butcher’s shop here in Africa to go collect the said specimens. : )

Proposition #2:

If I raise $7000 by Oct 1, I will agree to do the unthinkable. I will SHAVE MY HEAD!!!! Yes you read that correctly, I will shave my head. If you are a girl out there you know just how serious and costly this proposition is!!

But you must ACT QUICKLY!. You only have 3 DAYS!! Make sure you spread the word. Post this link on your facebook pages, send emails, make phone calls. Tell your friends, families, church members and co-workers to get in on this! It’s as simple as 45 people giving $100 to get me a nice serving of cow testicles! I promise you won’t regret it!! : )

To make a donation and get me one step closer to humiliation and keep me on the race simply go to the following link: http://anmaririvera.theworldrace.org/?tuid=2307031

It takes a while for your donations to post so make sure that you either send me an email at [email protected] or reach me through facebook at http://www.facebook.com/anmarivera to let me know the amount of your donation so that I can keep track of the numbers and let you know once the goals have been met.
Thank you ahead of time for your support! I couldn’t do this without you.

Proposition #3

If I raise enough money to meet my end goal of $14,300 by Oct 1 (which means I would have to raise a total of 10,000) I will eat the cow testicles and shave my head! How about that! : )
